On Friday, August 22, 2014, HiTel FCU volunteered at the annual Kapiolani Radiothon for Kids. Throughout the two-day event, there were other volunteer groups that helped with the live phone bank. Phones were ringing off the hook gathering generous donations from many callers, while GEICO Hawaii matched each of those donations during the “Power Hour.” 100% of all proceeds will stay in Hawaii and be used to purchase medical equipment, assist with neighbor island travel, and to fund education and research programs. Thank you again to everyone who donated a gift of a miracle to Hawaii’s children and their families.
Support My Class is an online community dedicated to helping Hawaii’s public school teachers fund creative classroom needs. On this site, a teacher can post a wishlist of items needed in their classroom. Anyone can then go to supportmyclass.org and donate to any wishlist. When the goal for the classroom is met, the requested items are purchased and sent directly to the school.
We strongly believe in this cause and pledged to donate $100 to the Hawaii Arts Alliance‘s Performing Arts Learning Center for every car loan approved and funded by November 12th, up to $10,000.
This past Saturday, we attended the Perry & Price Morning Show at Jade Dynasty Restaurant to present the money we raised to Kevin Takamori, the Director of Development at Hawaii Arts Alliance.
It’s always great fun to go to the Perry & Price Morning Show. On this particular weekend, the Perry and Price Show held a special menu, the Taste of China, instead of its usual buffet. The menu featured nine courses, all of which tasted great! Here are some of our favorites of the meal:
As the Perry & Price show continued, they had all types of speakers such as representatives of NOH Foods and the Ronald McDonald House. The show had surprise performances from Jordan Segundo and Frank De Lima!
Jordan Segundo Sings “Moves Like Jagger”
Frank De Lima acts as “Foo Ling Yoo” and plays a game with a member of the audience
Finally, it was time to present the check to Support My Class and to The Performance Arts Learning Center!
We are proud to be supporting such a great cause!
