Snack/appetizer/salad – bruschetta, somen salad, focaccia with olive tapenade, orzo salad, and little smokey “pupu pops”

Lunch – spaghetti and garlic bread, cream of mushroom pork chops and rice, chili, hot dog, edamame rice and pastele stew.

Sweet Treats –  poi crunch, butter mocha, mochi dessert, lilikoi cupcakes, brownies, shortbread cookies, banana bread, oreo cookie rice krispies, captain crunch bites, and pumpkin crunch bars.

Memorial Day Weekend 2015

In 1950, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of St. Louis, Missouri began placing flags on the graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for Memorial Day as a way to pay respects and offer thanks to those in uniform who fought for our Country. The Memorial Day annual Good Turn practice continues today as a tradition for the Boy Scouts of America.

On Oahu, the Aloha Council Boy Scouts of America decorated the graves at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl with lei and flag in response to an invitation from Mayor Kirk Caldwell, City and County of Honolulu. As each Scout adorned each gravestone with a flag and lei, they saluted with “thank you for your service”. This practice is an excellent tradition for our young men and boys to understand the sacrifice and devotion our military personnel have for our country and a wonderful way to honor each buried hero that they are not forgotten.

Aloha United Way 2014

HiTel FCU is always active in the community, lending a helping hand to many different organizations.  For the past decade, the credit union has put on a company bake sale in efforts to raise money for Aloha United Way.

This year there were many generous donors – fried rice omelet, brownies, strawberry cookies, maple bacon cupcakes and much more scrumptious goodies.  Employees got their fill and it was a great success.

In addition, in the past few years, HiTel FCU added a company garage sale to their fundraising efforts.  This year employees brought in a number of donations from ceramic pottery and baby toys to various make up products and home appliances.  All proceeds from both events will go to AUW, and the credit union is donating over $10,500!

Bake Sale

Our bellies GROWL when we think of this year’s Bake Sale. On Tuesday, September 25th, more than 30 people brought their delectable donations to the sale– making this the largest bake sale we’ve ever had! The sale offered dishes like comforting beef stew, tasty
macaroni ratatouille soup, bubbly four-bite pizza, sweet strawberry shortcake, indulgent chocolate peanut butter cup cookies, tangy lemon bars, spicy pickled onion, and SO MUCH MORE! Who knew HiTel FCU housed so many Top Chefs? The bake sale was an absolute success, raising more than $1,300 for Aloha United Way! We think it’s safe to say that the best way to help a great cause is with a full and satisfied stomach! Thank you to everyone who donated food and to those who purchased the yummy five-star fare!
