Kapolei Branch Grand Opening!

Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union celebrated the opening of its first retail Credit Union branch on Sunday, July 15, 2012. The branch is conveniently located inside the Kapolei Wal-Mart.  With the opening of this branch, Hawaiian Tel FCU made history by being the first Hawaii credit union to have a branch located inside a retail location.

The celebration started with a blessing by Kumu Kahu Shad Kane with Chairman Glen Moribe and President Norman Okimoto performing the maile lei grand opening ceremony.

The celebration continued with guest DJ’s Krey-Z Oshiro of Island 98.5 and Maleko of Star 101.9.  Krey-Z Oshiro and Maleko manned the slot machine, giving attendees a chance to win a Volkswagen Passat courtesy of Honolulu Volkswagen.  Cupcakes and Things, a local bakery based out of Kapolei, was on site giving out samples of their tasty treats and created a memorable cupcake ‘cake’ for our special event.

The Hawaiian Tel FCU prize wheel was spinning non-stop from 10am-2pm. Attendees were given the opportunity to win Wal-Mart gift cards, cupcake certificates, rice paddles, flashlights, key chains and much more.

Non-members could also open a new account and were given a choice of special gifts. Gifts included lunch tote with bottle, mini metal carts filled with groceries, or a commemorative 75th anniversary mug with warming lid.

UPDATE–July 20, 2012:
On July 18th, the winner of our iPad drawing was chosen! Our winner, Lisa, works with special needs children at Kapiolani Women’s & Children’s hospital.  She plans to use the iPad when working with the children.  We want to congratulate her and thank her for coming out to support HiTel FCU!
